Missing words in conversation? Get a full hearing test.

How it works
What happens in the appointment
History and ear check
A short conversation about what you have noticed, then a video otoscope look at both ears. Wax is cleared first if it would affect the results.
Air and bone conduction
Tones are presented across the speech frequencies to map the quietest level you can hear, and to separate inner-ear from middle-ear causes.
Speech testing
Words at conversational level, to measure how clearly you understand speech rather than just whether you detect sound.
Results and plan
Your audiogram is drawn up and explained on screen while you are still in the room, with a printed copy to take away.
Is it time?
Signs worth a test
Hearing usually changes slowly, so other people often notice first. If one or two of these sound familiar, a test gives you a clear answer.
- Asking people to repeat themselves
- Turning the TV up louder than others like
- Struggling in restaurants and group conversation
- Ringing or buzzing in one or both ears
- Family mentioning your hearing
- No test in the last few years, especially over 50
