Microsuction removes earwax using a small suction tube while the clinician views the ear canal directly. Most people tolerate it well, although the sound and sensation can feel unusual. Tell the clinician immediately if you experience discomfort so the procedure can be paused or adjusted.

Clinic appointments are reserved for 30 minutes. The treatment time varies depending on the amount and consistency of the wax and the condition of the ear canal. Your appointment includes an ear examination and before-and-after video otoscopy when clinically appropriate.

We generally see children aged 8 and over. Younger children may be considered case by case, depending on their needs and ability to remain comfortable and still during the examination. Please contact us before booking for a younger child.

Follow the preparation instructions provided when you book. If appropriate for you, medicinal olive oil ear drops for 2–3 days beforehand may help soften the wax. Do not use ear drops if you have a known or suspected perforated eardrum, grommets, ear discharge, significant ear pain, a recent ear infection or previous ear surgery unless a suitable health professional has advised you to do so.

Our No Wax, No Fee policy applies when the examination shows that there is no wax requiring removal. In that situation, there is no consultation charge. If another issue is identified, the clinician will explain the appropriate next step.

Yes. Clinic appointments are available at 15 Ninnis Court, Roxburgh Park, and mobile home visits are available across selected northern Melbourne suburbs. The clinic visit is $115 and the standard mobile visit is $170. Use the service-area postcode checker to confirm mobile availability.

Major credit and debit cards are accepted through a secure payment terminal. Cash is also accepted. Payment is due at the appointment unless another arrangement has been confirmed in advance.

Yes. You can book on behalf of a family member or another person. Enter the patient’s correct details during booking and make sure they know about the appointment. Clinical consent and treatment decisions are discussed with the patient at the visit.

Seek medical advice if you have sudden hearing loss, significant ear pain, discharge or bleeding, marked dizziness, a suspected ear infection or a foreign object in the ear. These symptoms may require assessment before routine earwax removal.
