Earplugs, earbuds and hearing aids can contribute to wax build-up in some people. We can examine your ears to check whether wax is causing the blocked feeling and discuss removal if appropriate. Keep using any hearing protection required for your work.
Wax build-up can contribute to tinnitus, but ringing in the ears has other possible causes too. Your audiologist can check for wax and advise on further assessment if needed. Wax removal does not guarantee that tinnitus will stop.
Contact us before your appointment for advice on whether softening drops would be helpful. Let us know if you have ear pain, discharge, a perforated eardrum or previous ear surgery before using any drops.
